Data Storage & Retention Terms
- Effective:

- Last updated:

1. Scope
These Data Storage and Retention Terms ("Storage Terms") describe how Mosaic Biodata Inc. ("Mosaic," "we," "us," or "our") stores and retains the data and reports in your account. They supplement and are incorporated into our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Kit Order Terms and Conditions, and Genetic Data Consent Notice. Mosaic does not charge a storage subscription or a storage fee.
2. What We Store
For Mosaic-sequenced customers, your account holds:
Your raw genomic data file (for example, your VCF), in standard, machine-readable formats.
Your current Mosaic report(s) generated from that data.
You can view and download both from your account at any time.
3. Retention and Report Versions
Your raw genomic data is retained in your account until you ask us to delete it. There is no subscription or storage fee to keep it.
Your current report is retained in your account.
When a report is updated to a new version, we do not keep the older version on file. We recommend downloading your report PDF and keeping your own copy whenever a new version is generated.
4. Report Regeneration
You can purchase a refreshed report from your stored raw data at any time. Report regeneration is a paid service; the current price is shown at checkout. No new sample or sequencing is required.
5. Access and Download
Log in to your account to view or download your raw data file and current report. Your raw data is provided in standard formats you can take to any compatible platform or practitioner.
6. Bring Your Own Data (BYOD) Files
If you upload genetic data files generated outside Mosaic ("BYOD files") for analysis, those files are handled separately from Mosaic-sequenced data. We do not guarantee ongoing storage of BYOD files, and we may remove them from our systems at any time and without prior notice. You are responsible for retaining your own copy of any BYOD file you upload.
7. Security
Data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and stored in U.S. data centers with backup and redundancy systems, regardless of your location. Samples are destroyed after sequencing; we do not retain physical samples.
8. Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your genetic data at any time. Genetic data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your request. Transaction records are retained for 7 years for tax and regulatory compliance (separate from genetic data). The handling, sharing, and deletion of your genetic data are governed by the Genetic Data Consent Notice and Privacy Policy.
9. Changes, Governing Law, and Contact
We may update these Storage Terms to reflect changes in our services or applicable law; material changes will be communicated by email with 30 days' notice. These Storage Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and applicable federal law; the consumer-protection laws of your state of residence may also apply.
