Mosaic Biodata

Most consumer DNA tests read 0.02% of your genome. Mosaic reads 100%.

A SNP chip samples about 600,000 positions. Whole-genome sequencing reads all 3 billion, at 30× depth, in an accredited clinical lab. Here is what that changes.

Mosaic vs a typical consumer DNA test.

  • How much of your DNA is read

    Mosaic Biodata

100%: every chromosome, every gene, at 30× depth.

    Consumer DNA tests

About 0.02%: a SNP chip samples around 600,000 pre-selected positions.

  • Health insights

    Mosaic Biodata

108 insights across nine areas of your health, plus deep-dive reports on the same genome.

    Consumer DNA tests

Ancestry plus a limited set of traits, depending on tier.

  • Lab standard

    Mosaic Biodata

CLIA-, COLA-, CAP-, and AABB-accredited U.S. lab partner.

    Consumer DNA tests

High-throughput consumer genotyping; not a clinical workflow.

What 100% gets you.

  • Rare variants the chip never looked at.

A chip reads the positions its maker chose. Sequencing reads every position, so the variants that matter for you are there whether or not they were common enough to make a chip.

  • Reanalysis when the science moves.

New report, same genome. Every deep-dive report runs on the file you already have. No new sample.

  • A raw genome you own.

Standard formats, downloadable any time, usable anywhere else that reads them.

  • Interpretation built in a clinic.

The framework behind every insight was refined client by client for more than a decade at Apeiron Center.

A SNP chip is a thumbnail. Sequencing is the full image.

A SNP chip is a cost shortcut: pre-choose about 600,000 of the most commonly varied positions in the human genome and read just those, cheaply. The chip cannot tell you what is at the other 99.98% of your DNA.

For ancestry estimates and well-studied common traits, the chip is enough. For interpretation that handles rare variants, structural variants, and new science as it lands, you need every position read, not inferred. That is what sequencing at 30× depth gives you.

  • What the technology reads

    Mosaic sequencing (30×)

All 3 billion base pairs across all chromosomes.

    SNP arrays (consumer chips)

About 600,000 pre-selected SNP positions (about 0.02% of the genome).

  • How positions are selected

    Mosaic sequencing (30×)

No selection. Every base is sequenced.

    SNP arrays (consumer chips)

The manufacturer decides which SNPs the chip captures at design time.

  • Read depth

    Mosaic sequencing (30×)

30×: each position is read about 30 times, so a variant call is reliable.

    SNP arrays (consumer chips)

    Single-pass hybridization signal; not depth-based.

  • Variant types detected

    Mosaic sequencing (30×)

SNVs, indels, structural variants, copy-number variants, rare and novel variants.

    SNP arrays (consumer chips)

Pre-selected common SNPs only. Rare and novel variants are invisible.

  • Imputation

    Mosaic sequencing (30×)

    Not needed. Direct reads.

    SNP arrays (consumer chips)

Required to estimate positions the chip did not read.

  • Reanalysis when science updates

    Mosaic sequencing (30×)

Re-interpret the existing genome. No new sample.

    SNP arrays (consumer chips)

Limited to positions the original chip captured.

  • Regulatory standard

    Mosaic sequencing (30×)

Run in a CLIA-, COLA-, CAP-, and AABB-accredited lab.

    SNP arrays (consumer chips)

Consumer-grade genotyping; clinical use needs separate validation.

Your Mosaic data covers every chromosome, including the variants that shape your caffeine clearance, your detox pathways, your sleep chronotype, your iron transport, and your thyroid conversion. When you are deciding whether a 3pm coffee is why your sleep is wrecked, the answer lives in positions a SNP chip never reads.

AncestryDNA tells you where your great-great-grandparents probably lived. Mosaic tells you which foods, sleep timing, supplements, and training inputs your body tends to respond to, variant by variant. The first is a one-time look. The second is the biology you live in every day.

Read the 99.98% of your DNA they don’t.
